ABOUT THE OZARK NATIONAL SCENIC RIVERWAYS:

NationalParkService.jpg

Ozark National Scenic Riverways (ONSR) is the first national park area to protect a river system when it was created in 1964.

The Current and Jacks Fork Rivers are two of the finest floating rivers you'll find anywhere. Spring-fed, cold and clear they are a delight to canoe, swim, boat or fish. Besides these two famous rivers, the park is home to hundreds of freshwater springs, caves, trails and historic sites such as Alley Mill.

There are 14 miles of designated horse trails and 48 miles of foot trails located within the Ozark National Scenic Riverways park. Trail conditions may vary considerably. Short hikes in the Big Spring and Alley Spring areas are popular. The park contains an 8.5 mile section of the Ozark Trail, which is planned to some day go from St. Louis into Arkansas. Several long sections of this trail have already been completed.

For more details on the Ozark Scenic National Riverways, visit https://www.nps.gov/ozar/index.htm.
