Named one of the "Best Small Towns in America," Bolivar, in southwest Missouri, is in close proximity to Stockton and Pomme de Terre lakes. Conveniently located on newly-expanded Highway 13 between Kansas City and Springfield, this town of 10,000 offers the benefits of a bustling metropolis partnered with the peace and serenity you'll only feel in a rural setting.

Home to Southwest Baptist University, a quaint downtown square, an incredible art museum, celebrated city parks, renowned restaurants, a handful of antique shops, fun festivals and fishing streams, Bolivar is a first-time MOC conference host and an ideal location for potential story opportunities.

We are finalizing the details for the 2018 Bolivar conference. Activities under consideration for MOC attendees include:

  • Fishing for bass, crappie and walleye on Stockton Lake
  • Fishing for elusive muskies on Pomme de Terre Lake
  • Touring the legendary Fantastic Caverns, America's only ride-through cave
  • Visiting a local chukar partridge farm
  • Sailing lessons at Stockton State Park
  • Kayaking, Canoeing, Hiking at Stockton State Park
  • Wade fishing local streams
  • Hiking in the beautiful Dunnegan Memorial Park
  • Touring Tracker Marine boat factory, if available at that time
  • Shopping in antique stores and flea markets
  • And more

In addition, we're working with Gail Noggle with the City of Bolivar to plan some fun, interesting and entertaining spouse tours throughout the conference. We'll look forward to sharing this information with everyone as it progresses.

We will be staying in a brand new Best Western Plus, which has its grand opening this spring.

We're excited to show off Bolivar and show everyone a good time. Additional conference details will be announced in the coming weeks.

We welcome any feedback and suggestions in regard to conference activities and seminar topics.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Bolivar this September.

*Please note: We want everyone to know why the conference dates have changed. Initially, the 2018 conference was scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day, as it always is, which would be Sept. 7-9. However, in order to accommodate many MOC members who had a scheduling conflict with the 2018 Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers (AGLOW) conference, which overlaps with MOC's traditional conference weekend, we made the decision with input from our board members to move the conference dates to September 21-23, 2018. It is our hope that the new dates for 2018 will be convenient for all of our members.

This Conservation Federation of Missouri event is designed to bring conservationists from all across Missouri together at the Capitol for a day of promoting and supporting our natural resources and outdoor heritage.

We have reserved the 3rd floor of the Rotunda and will have table spaces available for up to 25 affiliate organizations. The event is both educational and informative. We hope citizens and legislators alike will tour the affiliate booths to learn about the diverse outdoor passions of Missourians. Citizens will have a chance to meet with their legislators and thank them for protecting conservation in Missouri.

The Morning Shag with Shags and Trevor of KCMQ 96.7 will be broadcasting their popular morning show live from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m.

To reserve a booth for your affiliate organization, contact Micaela Haymaker at 573-634-2322 ext. 101 or mhaymaker@confedmo.org.
