Missouri conservation heritage foundation ANNUAL YOUTH WRITING CONTEST
At the 2015 annual conference in Branson, President Kenny Kieser proposed a new writing contest focused on the importance of getting our youth involved in the great outdoors. Kenny explains the contest as such:
Everyone in our group should understand the importance of encouraging kids to try hunting and fishing. This contest is designed to give our members a chance to win a prestigious contest with a plaque for first place as well as a cash prize of $100.00. The second place entry will be awarded a certificate and a $50.00 cash prize.
The contest requires one or two entries per active media member. Complete entries will include an original copy with the author's name, dates of publication and name of the outlet the story was published in.
Along with the attributed original, three copies need to be included with all references to the identification of the author and publication removed. Copies must be clean and easy to read. You must be an active media member of MOC. Failure to follow these simple rules will result in disqualification. Entry to the contest is free. Entries must be submitted by August 1, 2017.
All entries will be returned by request. Those that wish to have their entries returned will be able to pick them up at the 2017 annual conference. Those that want their entries mailed back to them, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Stories should be about kids pursuing hunting or fishing or a how-to story on how to take kids hunting or fishing. There are no length limits for stories.
Three MOC judges will read all entires and decide upon the winners. All ties or final decisions will be made by the committee chairman.
Entries must be submitted no later than August 1, 2017.
Awards will be presented at the 2017 Missouri Outdoor Communicators annual conference, which will be held in St. Joseph, Sept. 8-10, 2017.
The Youth Writing Contest Committee is comprised of the following:
Committee Chair: Brent Frazee, MOC Vice President

Hard copies of entries (including one copy with author's name and publication details along with three "blind" copies - no name or publication details) should be mailed to:
